Not sure how many people here are a fan of the FF series, but I've always been a pretty big one, considering they were my first real introduction to JRPGs (Pokemon doesn't count when you're 8)! So discuss the whole franchise here! Interesting bit of news I found about XIII-2's story - nonlinearity is back. The 'historia crux' system allows the player to travel through time in order to force different outcomes and explore different periods in the story. Which sounds awesome. But with the whole 'you can access everywhere straight away', are Squeenix moving too close to the system they used in X-2, which was deplored by fans? Find out more here.

Never played FF9 and FFX-2. Still need to finish FFX on PS2 and restart FFXII. Want to restart FFVII and FFVIII, too. Need to play FFXIV more and loved FFXIII. Pre-order FFXIII-2. Going to start FF9 and X-2 when I've got time (or better said finished the other ones) and also played FFIII (not finished) and tested the ones between III and FFVI. I love the Tactics series and I think I'm overdoing it right here. Any questions?

FFX is my favourite. I'm replaying that at the moment. I've not played any of Tactics, the only RTS I've played in the series is Revenant Wings, the sequel to XII but it was good. Which of the Tactics series would you recommend the most?

Tactics A2 for DS, "sequel" to Tactics Advance (Advance, A2? get it? ). Advance is also good but not necessary to play A2

dunno why but ur post made my eyes go funny dancingdan, must be all those roman numerals You should also get Tactics orge, the tone is alot darker than your normal FF Interesting about XIII-2, its starting to sound like Radiant of Historia with the whole being able to choose parts time-travel so you can alter events. X-2 was knocked by fans because it was to happy and poppy right? This time im expecting a similar serious tone to the prequel so maybe there won't be that much backlash.

Stereo, you should really play the Tactics game. The story isn't boring, there's plenty to do besides the main story (mostly more quests, but also getting special one-of-a-kind characters) and it's something that makes TBS that much more entertaining. Now, I'm going to sit here and be adamant that FF IX is the best out of the lot. I wholly expect to be lynched within the next 30 seconds.

I love IX. I do. I love every single one I've played with the exception of XIII, which I just thought was alright. So no lynching here!
And I'll get Tactics next time I have a long car journey ahead of me. I'm sure by now they won't be hideously expensive.

A2 shouldn't be too hard to find, but good luck finding even a second-hand copy of Tactics Advance.
I'm surprised by that actually, every time I mention that IX was my favorite, I get people going "OMG u suk VII and VIII were teh best", and frankly it gets anoying after a while. VII was alright admittedly, I didn't mind it, but VIII was just plain boring.
You should also try VI and III if you haven't already, they're thoroughly enjoyable.

I've got III on DS and I find it a bit tedious, so I'll amend my previous statement about only just 'liking' XIII to include III as well!. It's alright, and I think the story is quite good, but I'm not a fan of the battle system. Or the insane difficulty curve ¬_¬. VI is on my list of ones to get on PSN, because finding a disc copy will probably not happen for less than £20. (and after a quick scout on eBay, I'm definitely right - going rate is about £21) I'm really enjoying my replay of FFX at the moment. I did get a bit sidetracked because Resistance 3 just came out (anyone got it? I don't want to do multiplayer on my own ;_;) but I think I might stick that on tonight and continue on. I'm just at the Moonflow at the moment - beautiful scenery. FFX definitely has the most beautiful world, I think. Ivalice is nice too, but it doesn't beat Spira.
