This question has to pop up on an anime forum sooner or later: Vote above and tell us why you voted!
For me it depends on the setting, it's a bit weird for me to hear thick American accents acting like they're Japanese highschoolers, however, for stuff like Fullmetal Alchemist which is set in a western/fantasy/sci-fi world (Or anything where the majority of characters don't have Japanese names pronounced with an obviously American twang if I'm honest) then I'll usually end up going for the dub.

For me it depends on what I experience first. If I watch jap dub first and later hear german dubs in TV I just think "WTF" and if I watch a german dub first (like I did with Tenchi Muyo VHS or Ranma 1/2 on TV) and then listen to the original jap dub I also think it's somewhat awkward. Like kaito explained in a way I also think it's the quality (speaking about german dubs). It's just too strange to see a 10-yrs-old character being either spoken by a low-pitched voice or a same voice just speaking high, acting like a 10-yrs-old.

Hmm...I have grown used to the subbed version of anime shows, although if there is a dubbed version of it, I will watch it. However, since 80% of the anime that I watch is subbed-only, that is the way anime should be watched, in the original, intended Japanese dub.

I prefer dubs cause the US does such a great job of giving the show the same emotion and depth it had in the Japanese version. I also get really bored of reading subs when I wanna be watching the show xD

I'm with Kaito on this. It really depends on the setting. FMA I've found to be far better dubbed, and Cowboy Bebop as well. But I could never watch the dubs of Ouran or D.Gray-Man, for example - in fact, my boyfriend made me watch Ouran dubbed because he isn't a fan of subtitles and it felt so wrong to me!

I think french dubbers are some of the worst dubbers in the whole world. They give irritating voices to the characters or use dumb ways of speaking.
That's why I simply HATE dubbed anime.

Don't really care too much. Grew up on Dubs and came to subs some shows do it okay and some really don't but it doesn't affect me that much. If I really had to chose one or the other it would probably be subs

Depends on the setting imo. Some do it quite well e.g. FMA, Cowboy Bebop, and Black Lagoon, otherwise I'll stick to subs. If it's a show I've watched back when I was a kid I'll watch the dub for nostalgia reasons, like Gundam Wing.

Depends on a number of factors. In most cases i prefer the Japanese cast because it tends to be more consistent with higher quality actors. If the western voice cast is good however (say Code Geass) i can go either way. So i guess i'm a combination of these though leaning more towards subs due to them being the best option most times.

ooh neck and neck It depends whether i watched the first episode in either dub or sub then i will continue with what i started with Yep I'm sort of the same but in relation to older anime series which were done right; cowboy bebop is a prime example latest anime is definitely subs only (we don't get much of a choice anywho) but the Japanese voice staff are more expertly picked = more enjoyable //bit piss*d legit dvd anime i own have errors in translation that I and other fans realise :/ also HATE grammatical errors, even manga, so many spelling mistakes, and you'd think they'd spend a day converting it to British English :/ 'honor' annoys me xD

I always need to watch something in its original language. I remember watching a Disney movie in chinese once and... yea it just wasn't the same at all maybe it was the singing I don't know. What irritates me in dubs (maybe not intentional) is that the VA always has an accent that feels like it destroys the character, though this could be that I've never watched a dub before its original language.
