NTT DOCOMO officially removes SIM lock from new mobile devicesAs of 1st april docomo provides service to remove the simlock on docomo mobile phones. As I read this I thought about getting one. I'm especially interested in the SH-01C. I think you can't use all service in foreign networks, but I'm not to fond of smartphones as I don't need all those apps and stuff. So basically I just need a phone to call or send/receive sms. I saw some offers on ebay with Hypersim cards which seem to be needed for using a docomo phone in a foreign network. Anyone has some thoughts on this? Maybe I missed some crucial details which would make such a phone useless here.

Right, so docomo is a mobile network in Japn, right? Like Softbank? You're saying that you can now use their handsets in other countries now they're disabling SIM lock?
What's special about a Docomo handset?

Umm to be honest nothing, expect pretty good cameras for phones. I just like flip phones and you almost see them in every animu. I'm a nerdy nerd And yeah Docomo is a network and cell phone retailer like softbank. And you should be able to use them in other countries if simlock is removed. Problem here is, that this needs to be done in one of their stores. So you would need a friend in japan doing it for you. I've got myself the SH-01C with a hypersim. Hypersimcards are used to simulate the japanese network, so you can use your own simcard in a docomo phone. (Afaik Softbank phones can be unlocked through software). The SH-01C has yet to arrive.
