I know this isn't anime related.
So why am I writing this? Correct, because there were many different "small" parts told about this game and many of you built a picture of Brink because of these small parts.
I've played it a lot by now and with the PSN back up also my first ~3 hours of online play last evening - so am I going to review this game now for all of you to rethink your decisions.
First of all: Brink is pretty much fun. It plays pretty unique due to the SMART system which opens new ways and opportunities to the player - as long as he is playing a "smaller" character.
You can choose between heavy, medium and light character. While the light one is the fastest and can reach the most locations - with the drawback of low health and only light weapons - is the heavy character the slowest and can't really climb, but can use all heavy weapons.
No matter your character (you can change the type anytime you customize your character) can you choose out of all 4 classes of which none is overpowered. However, you are limited to 20 skill points (on highest level) so that you need to decide carefully what skills of which class you choose. And if you want different skillsets are you free to create up to 10 characters - which you have to level up all for themself.
The amount of maps is with 8 actually a bit limited but MAG also had only 9 maps in the beginning and new maps are on it's way for June.
That leaves only the AI left, which seems to be the main point:
The AI actually isn't bad. There are some moments where they may act stupid (which still reminds me on typical human playing from MAG) but allover is it really good and playing on hard really means hard.
People being still annoyed of these few AI problems (while playing solo) can easily go online and play the campaign there. Besides: the AI online is way better then the AI solo. It's partial up to the max level, using max level skills, and we had situations where we thought fighting humans (cause the enemies did pretty nice moves) but when looking into the point-list did we saw it was just a bot. Also depending on the server settings won't you hear your teammates (so no ranting or something) as long as you don't team up with them. Communication is still possible due to the interactable-realtime target system. If someone chooses the main target as example are other players informed by voice and writing and can choose to escort this person as example.
I can just recommend this game to everyone intrested in this genre!
All over is Brink a real fun teamplay shooter and worth every bit of money with questionable AI while playing solo which get better while playing online (places online not filled with humans will be filled with bots).
Also for trophyhunters an easy platinum. Just missing 3 trophies til platinum by now after 3 days and two of them are nearly reached.
