Not sure I'd be able to consider it GotY when it barely runs on one of the systems it was released for (and isn't amazingly stable on the other 2).
Still looking forward to DLC details since Bethesda usually have pretty substantial additional content for their games.

Friend’s request: Skyrim X Trollface Xbox360 Boxart So, is the game worth getting? I've heard a lot of good things (plus the fact it becomes addictive) and saw a couple hilarious glitches.

So, is the game worth getting? I've heard a lot of good things (plus the fact it becomes addictive) and saw a couple hilarious glitches. The answer to this question would also be relevant to my interests as I have recently been developing a sense of curiosity towards this game.

Depends on your taste. If I'd said boxman that Fallout 3 was good and he bought it because of that he'd kick me in the arse. (or Failout as he says). If you like exploring, dungeon crawling and item managment (incl. crafting) this is your game. If you hate walking long distances (even tough there are encounters and dungeons on the way to explore) than this is nothing for you. I already invested 45h and I plan to do more once I "finished" Lineage 2.

The combat is bad, the quests aren't particularly good (outside of a few exceptions), the dialog is garbage, the voice acting appalling, and the stability shocking.
Yet, at the same time, I still manage to get enjoyment out of Skyrim. Partly because the world is so well designed that exploring it is fun and partly because there isn't really any other game doing what Elder Scrolls does. Even though all that shit should break my immersion it didn't and I got lost in Skyrim's world.
On the other hand Morrowind is much cheaper.

@ kaito n kreuz
I think it's definitly worth getting if your prepared for a very very very long and deep adventure, think of it as a viking gta/infamous sandbox xD (you can go do any mission and everyone starts to know you +decisions) i've been watching ppls gameplay and every single person handles the game differently, it's amazingly diverse from what i can see but DUNGEON CRAWLERRRRRRRRRR and it is gruelling. days will be spent in inventory tetris.
and there are bugs/glitches especially on console but patches clear most up....
i think you should only consider it if you have time to play, you 'could' do 1 mission a day but you wouldn't be anywhere near the end of completion until.....autumn perhaps? n even then it would be worth replaying choosing different skills to upgrade and choosing other options (killing everyone perhaps)
in truth i dont even think gta5 will beat skyrim
summary: Worth the money even at rrp, Not the type of game that people would resell or pass on, and most bad reviews are just trolls "bethesdale always releases broken games" but it is a true PC GAME, also when you steal peoples armour they appear naked in game....and the women are kinda ugly, like somone hit them with a rolling pin whilst baking bread at the same time

Well I wouldn't compare it to GTA as that's an action game with fun combat. Skyrim still pretends to be an RPG but really all that ends up doing is making the combat a bit on the dull side.
Also since I'm not sure of people's system preferences: Do not get the PS3 version. If possible get the PC version but know that the interface is hot garbage made for a controller. Eventually mods will pop up to make it a much better game. The 360 version is fine too though.
edit: oh have I mentioned how insane the enemy balancing is? It's hilariously bad.
editedit: Just to be clear; I would still recommend Skyrim, I just want to make sure people know what to expect.

Vanilla Skyrim is definitely playable compared to vanilla Oblivion. Get the PC version if possible for mods, I've always gotten Bethesda games because of this. And yeah like reknoc said PS3 has some saving issues, it's something about how the system does RAM (divided memory pool so 256x2 instead of the 360's single 512) If possible get the PC version but know that the interface is hot garbage made for a controller. Eventually mods will pop up to make it a much better game. Yup, there's SkyUI. Makes the UI a lot less consolized. www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3863Overall the balancing's kinda meh (if you know what you're doing even the highest difficulty is a joke) and there's a decent amount of glitches, but imo it's worth it. insert obligatory arrow in the knee joke here

Loving the mods!! :D exactly why i waited for a pc to play it on!
installed all kinds!
to speed up horse speed by 30% a magic spell to "Whistle" which calls the horse! :D to illuminate all books i haven't read yet reduce the weight of pickaxe and wood axe unequip the arrows on back when PUTTING AWAY your bow (have a look next time, they stay) improve npc faces (on top of the HD dlc pack) arrow markers for followers AND house marker to quick travel to change of female run and walk animation! hell yeh!
trying not to "cheat" but the weight change is kind of a little
thinking to change inventory UI, atm feels a mess
really sucks up time though :0
/also i plan to install a dova mansion towards the end.

Is there anything better than handcrafted upgraded daedric sword? Somehow I can't seem to upgrade unique weapons stronger than the daedric sword. 163 damage, fire enchanted, I'm slicing through enemies like butter.
