Tried the MGS 3DS demo. pretty interesting with the touchscreen controls, but I already got MGS HD Collection for PS3 so I won't get the 3DS version.

I found the demo much shorter and not as interesting as RE:Rev demo. Most of the stuff you pick up along the way cannot be used. The best bits are probably those phone calls + cutscenes.

I played a bit of the demo, seemed rather awful. Poor framerate, missing effects, awkward controls even with the CPP. There's no need to have 3 separate aiming cameras. The gyro balancing was also a really dumb idea. It's an old build so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Thoughts of the latest demo's? Cooking Mama, Nintendog & Cats, DOA.
Cooking Mama is bleh. A waste of time. Nothing new.
Still need to try Nintendog at some point.
I enjoyed DOA. But I never got into the DOA universe. And since I'm not a huge fan of fighting games, one fighting game would do for me and that's Tekken. I can wait.

DOA has a demo now? I bought that on release and still play it, love the game! I have Super Street Fighter 3DS to but I regret the buy, its just a simplified console down port, much like what the 3DS Snake Eater seems to look like which I was very dissapointed with.

Right, as all you lot have 3DS' and I can't be bothered to read through the whole thread...
I'm planning on getting a 3DS at the end of next month. What games would you recommend, and would the XL be worth it? I'm leaning towards the standard console because a) cheaper, b) likely to become cheaper between now/me buying it and c) the XL is pretty huge. But any opinions/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

a/b/c - Yes. I don't think XL is worth getting. Especially when it does not include a 2nd analog.
Okay now consider the following question.
Have you thought about the Vita or iPad?
Despite my dislike in 3D films, I still enjoy the 3D from the 3DS very much, although I haven't played it in months b/c of the iPad. Vita & iPad aren't innovative in comparison to the 3DS but it has a lot more functionality.
If you still want a 3DS then the games to consider are basically and only the big titles. Unlike with Playstastion, I don't have much faith in Nintendo supported new developers. Only a handful of those digital downloaded titles from the eShop are good (played the demo, yet still have bought nothing. The rest, along with plenty of the retail games are shovelware.
1. Mario Kart 7 2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 3. Tekken / SF / DOA 4. Resident Evil Revelations 5. MGS 6. Kingdom Hearts 3D 7. Tetris 8. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy 9. Pokemon B&W2 (October)

The 3DS XL looks pretty good, probably doesn't come with all the shit a normal 3DS does like scratching itself and floppy top screen. But it also doesn't come with a power charger so... maybe they fixed the terrible build quality the original 3DS had? Well, either way the original is better if price is a concern.

Kreuz - I have indeed considered the Vita and the iPad. As far as the iPad goes, I wouldn't want it for gaming anyway, and I'm probably going to get a Nexus 7 if I get a tablet any time soon. And the Vita... well, I just prefer Nintendo's handheld games to Sony's. Always have done, it's why I didn't get a PSP. Thanks for the recommendations though, I shall bear those in mind when I pick one up!
Reknoc - the standard scratches itself? How do you mean?

The bottom screen sticks out slightly and can scratch the top screen. Thankfully mine hasn't been scratched but it does leave a mark I have to clean off every time I open it up. They may have fixed this by putting bigger stoppers on the top on newer models.

@ds I totally back The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, I almost feel like its worth buying a 3DS just for that game. Something to keep in mind is that some DS games play in a really low resolution on the 3DS so its ideal the keep your DS. Reknoc It hasn't happened to mine because of the 2 rubbers on either side the top screen stops it from touching the bottom. So yeah I'd say they fixed it. I bought my one early 2012 for ref

Oh yeah, mine is like Reknoc's where it leaves a mark. Thank God for that. I have a screen protector anyway.
I've come to realise that even if Apple is an ambitious evil corporation like Google, their products (excluding Mac) goes a long way, it's the most handy and friendly. I personally like the iPad very much. I have read reviews that the Window tablet is a strong competitor and actually a winner in some aspects. Might be worth looking into when you're considering a tablet.

Mine does the same thing, leaves marks on the top screen. I am looking into a screen protector but there are so many fakes floating round. Any recommendations for a good screen protector KK?

I used the little cloth that came with my ipod touch, just popped it in when closing the 3DS. Not sure where that little cloth has gone now though.
